FAQ’s

How do you pronounce that?

Over the years we’ve heard a lot of different ways of pronouncing our name. The word “Kairos” is a greek word that means time, more specifically, an opportune time. It comes from the battlefield; as the front lines of the Greek army would be rushing towards the front lines of the opposition. The archers were held back and there was an opportune moment before the armies would collide to send their arrows flying. The opposing army had to be close enough for the arrows to reach them, but the battle couldn’t be so progressed that the archers risked shooting their own men in the frenzy. A Kairos moment isn’t too early, or too late… it’s just right.

Film making is all about story telling. You have an opportune time to capture a shot and a story also has an opportune time to be told in order to maximize its impact.

So how do you say it?

“Kai”, rhymes with ‘Hi’

“ros”, like, Ross from your favorite show ‘Friends’

But to be perfectly honest, we mispronounce it half of the time ourselves, so give it your best shot! I’m sure we won’t be offended

So do you shoot photos or video?

Yes.

The reality is that the skillset overlaps quite a bit. That might ruffle the feathers of some purists out there, but it does. We fancy ourselves filmmakers and if you run into one of us on the street and ask what we do, we’ll tell you that we’re filmmakers. But we also love crafting a great static movie as well… which would be a photo.

What kind of work do you do?

This is another one that we’ve gotten asked over the years, quite a bit and it’s kind of a tricky now to answer.

Again, the reality is that the skillset of filmmaking is really boiled down to storytelling. You can tell a story in a commercial, you can tell a story in a documentary, in a narrative film, or in an interview.

We got our start as wedding filmmakers and to this day, that is still a very important part of what we do. We love working with the couples who trust us with those moments and feel like wedding films really create a unique way to meet incredible people, get creative, and tell really amazing stories all at the same time.

But over the years, we’ve really come to enjoy helping businesses build their brands and effectively communicate their stories to the community they are in. Some people call this marketing but in recent decades marketing has caught some flack for being gimmicky and sleazy (and reasonably so. Thanks a lot used car salesmen). So we like to think that at the heart of every company is a reason as to why it exists; a problem needed solving or an improvement needed to be made. And at the heart of every customer is a connection to that story whether they know it or not. Our job is to string a thread between those two realities and help customers connect with the brands they love and understand why they love them.

No gimmicks, no false promises, no snake oil.

How much do you charge?

It completely depends on the job. You would probably expect this kind of answer, but that’s because it’s true. We charge based on the scope of the project and budget of the client. We’ve worked on $3000 projects and we’ve worked on $300,000 projects. There’s a broad scope of client and of deliverable that they need so pricing really varies dramatically.

If you have a project in mind and would like some more information or a quote, be sure to contact us and we’ll have a great conversation and set you up with a quote. We’d love to hear from you!

Do you travel?

We do! We love to travel, that’s actually part of why we started this company. We saw the camera as a vehicle that enables us to go all over the place, meet amazing people, and create incredible work. We’ve travelled all over the US and internationally to shoot. We’ve worked with brands around the U.S. and we love getting to explore new and exciting places.

The world shrunk when airplanes were invented and then again with the internet, so if you have a project that requires travel, we’re super down to make it happen!
